Unser Berliner WITTE-Team begab sich Anfang September auf eine spannende Zeitreise: In Beelitz-Heilstätten durchstreiften wir eines der wohl beeindruckendsten Zeugnisse deutscher, expressionistischer Architektur im Dienste der Medizin. Gut geführt erhielten wir spannende Informationen zum Lebensalltag der Patienten und zur Funktionsweise der Heilstättenanlagen, aber auch über die Gründe des Verfalls. Wir waren beeindruckt vom damaligen Heilungskonzept, aber auch vom heutigen morbiden Charme der Gebäude. Im Anschluss hieß es: „Raus aus den Schuhen!“ Im Barfußpark gab es an der frischen Luft einen Kurzurlaub für Körper und Seele. Und das Kind im Manne (und der Frau) wurde wieder wach! Ein schönes Team-Erlebnis.
At the beginning of September, our WITTE team in Berlin set off on an exciting journey through time. The team visited Beelitz-Heilstätten, an abandoned sanatorium. We roamed the complex, which is arguably one of the finest examples of expressionistic architecture built for medical purposes in Germany. Our tour was led by expert guides who shared fascinating insights into the everyday lives of the patients and how the sanatorium worked, as well as how it fell into its current state of disrepair. We were impressed by the treatment concept used back then and by the macabre charm the building exudes today. Afterwards, it was time to kick off the shoes and have a quick rest in the barefoot park. We took in some fresh air and refreshened the body and soul. This really brought out the child in each of us, too – a lovely experience to share as a team.
