Founded in 2007, the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen - DGNB - (German Sustainable Building Council) has developed criteria for the "Deutsche Gütesiegel Nachhaltiges Bauen" (German Sustainable Building Certification) in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs. These criteria have been in force since January 2009.
